Summer Issue

Dear Friend of the Partnership,

As our fiscal year comes to an end, I wanted to thank you for your support to make sure our young children have all they need to be successful students and ultimately active, contributing adult members of our community.

Durham's Partnership for Children is unique among community nonprofits because we take a comprehensive view of all aspects of early childhood development and family life. As you know, we have celebrated 15 years working on behalf of Durham's young children and their families this fiscal year. As this milestone draws to an end, our intent is to recount our collective accomplishments as motivation to set out to do even more in the next 15 years.

We still face challenges creating resources to meet increasing needs. Yet, with strong Board leadership and committed partners, we continue to make a significant impact on young children and their families with quality early childhood education, family support and health services.

This year, the City of Durham and Durham County proclaimed 2010 'The Year of the Young Child.' This distinction gives our early childhood system a unique opportunity to continue to build awareness for the critical needs of young children.

Let's continue working towards our  mission --- mobilizing and unifying the Durham community to create and support successful collaborative approaches to serving the needs of young children birth to age 5 and their families.

With gratitude,

Marsha Basloe
Executive Director
