Nearly 200 Durham preschool teachers convene for More at Four and Head Start preservice training

Durham's Partnership for Children in partnership with Operation Breakthrough Head Start hosted a two-day training conferece, "Team Up for Early Care and Education" at Grey Stone Baptist Church.
This first joint training for Durham's pre-k program covered program standards, health and safety, nutrition, family support and transition classes for nearly 200 early childhood education who are serving nearly 1,000 children through More at Four and Head Start programs in Durham County.
"Professional development for preschool teachers in very important as 90 percent of a child's brain growth develops by preschool. These teachers are tasked with teaching children at the most critical time in their development. These trainings will support their efforts to ensure more of our county's children arrive to kindergarten ready to succeed," said Marsha Basloe, executive director of Durham's Partnership for Children.

Durham's Partnership for Children recently participated in Durham Art Council's Centerfest in Durham Central Park on Sept. 20 and 21st and El Centro Hispano's Health Fair held at Hillside Highschool on Sept. 27.
The events gave durham residents an opportunity to learn more about the Partnership. Staff distributed the community report in Spanish and English and distributed information from funded partners, such as Welcome Baby, Child Care Services Association and Exchange Clubs' Family Center's Early Chilhood Outreach (EChO) Program.
The Partnership educates the community on its work at two public outreach events.
