BOCC Commissioners'
Community Circle Award


The Durham Board of County Commissioners presented the Partnership with the Commissioners' Community Circle Award in August. Being awarded the Commissioners' Community Circle Award highlights the hard work that the Partnership has done to ensure the future success that Durham's young children deserve. The Partnership welcomes the opportunity to bring 15 years of service to the Commissioners' Circle and to be recognized as a leader in the Durham community during The Year of the Young Child. Partnership awarded with
national Alfred P. Sloan Award

 

The Partnership was recently recognized for a fifth consecutive year with the Alfred P. Sloan Award, which honors organizations nationwide for workplace flexibility and effectiveness. The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility are awarded as part of the When Work Works project, an ongoing initiative of Families and Work Institute, the Institute for a Competitive Workforce (ICW), an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Twiga Foundation.
We are grateful to be awarded this honor and for the opportunity to be recognized on a national level. Other local winners include Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau, McKinney, Mount Olive College at RTP, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (RTP).

Investor's Report UpdateImage of 2010 Investor's Report

Durham's Partnership for Children produced an updated version of our Investor's Report, which was supported in part by The Durham Merchants Association Charitable Foundation. The 2010 Investor's Report includes the most recent and relevant statistics involving the relationship between business and high-quality early care and education. The updated report includes thoughts from current business leaders in Durham, and those who work to make an economic impact in Durham County.

Partnership Dates

 

 

NOVEMBER 1

Holiday Book Drive kick-off

Beginning on Nov.1, the Partnership will be teaming up for a 4th year with the staff at the Barnes & Noble Southpoint Mall location, where patrons like you will be asked to purchase books to benefit young Durham County children who might not otherwise have had access to books.  The book drive will last through the end of December when all donated books will be distributed to Durham community agencies that serve young children. Last year we collected 4,150 books during the eight-week book drive, which were donated to 22 different agencies.
